Corn Dip Cream Cheese
Today I’m sharing a recipe for a delicious and easy hot corn dip that is sure to be a hit at any party or gathering. I was coming up with new recipes for our annual Super Bowl Party that we host and wanted to make a veggie dip. Obviously not a healthy veggie dip but something that didn’t have meat in it. 🙂
This creamy, cheesy dip is made with just a few simple ingredients and can be cooked in a crockpot, making it an effortless appetizer option.
I love corn dip! We even served corn dip at our wedding I love it that much. I have so many delicious corn dishes like Mexican Street Corn, Creamed Corn, or Corn Casserole. But this Corn Dip with Cream Cheese is a winner for sure. The sweet corn combined with all the cheeses and sour cream makes an irresistible appetizer that will be everyone’s favorite to snack on.
Ingredients for Philidelphia Cream Cheese Corn Dip
One of the great things about this dip is that it’s so easy to make with just a few ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. This cream cheese based dip has a combination of ingredients that makes a creamy, rich dip that is full of flavor. All you need are the ingredients below to make this craveable dip.
- Frozen Sweet Corn– I love how simple frozen sweet corn is and it adds a crunchy pop to the dish. Canned corn can work too but it might not have the same texture.
- Sour Cream– This recipe is a rich dip so I always use full-fat sour cream. I’m sure 1/3 fat would still be delicious if you are trying to lighten it up.
- Cream Cheese– I like to use Philadelphia Cream Cheese for all my recipes since it always seems to melt better
- Monterey jack, Cheddar, and Pepper Jack Cheese– These are my favorite trio of cheeses to make this corn dip recipe.
- Garlic Powder– I use garlic powder for this recipe but fresh garlic can work too.
- Salt– You can add more at the end to your liking but always make sure to add a little salt in the beginning.
Optional Ingredients
I like to jazz up my corn dip with toppings like always! Here are a few ingredients I like to add for a little boost of flavor.
- Chopped Jalapenos
- Chopped Green Onions
- Hot Sauce like Cholula
You could make a toppings bar for the corn dip if you are having a party to keep the flavor mild.

- Crackers

tips &
This Hot Corn Dip with Cream Cheese is a delicious and easy appetizer that is perfect for any party or gathering. Whether you’re hosting a big game day party or a casual get-together with friends, this dip is sure to be a hit. Make this for an Easy Super Bowl appetizer that can be served right from the Crockpot.
- Use a mixture of cheeses for maximum flavor: While you can certainly use just one type of cheese in this dip, using a mixture of cheeses (such as cheddar, Monterey jack, and pepper jack) really helps to boost the flavor.
- Also, I highly recommend shredding your own cheese. Since this is one of the most important ingredients in the recipe it’s best not to use the pre-shredded type at the store since it doesn’t melt as easily as the real stuff.
- Soften the cream cheese before mixing: If you find that your cream cheese is too hard to mix in easily, try microwaving it for a few seconds to soften it up. This will make it easier to incorporate into the dip.
- Adjust the seasoning to taste: Don’t be afraid to experiment with the seasoning in this dip. If you like a little more garlic. If you prefer a spicier dip, add some diced jalapenos or a sprinkle of chili powder.
- Experiment with add-ins: While the basic recipe for this corn dip is delicious on its own, you can also add in other ingredients to give it an extra boost of flavor.
- Some great options include diced tomatoes, diced green chilies green onions, diced bell peppers or pimentos, or even some chopped bacon.
Substitutions for Corn Dip Cream Cheese
- Frozen sweet corn: If you don’t have frozen sweet corn, you can use fresh corn that has been cooked and cut off the cob. Canned corn that has been drained and rinsed works too.
- I highly recommend using sweet corn. If you don’t have sweet corn add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to give that sweet balance to the creamy rich cheese.
- Sour cream: If you don’t have sour cream, you can use plain Greek yogurt as a substitute. This will give the dip a tangy flavor and a slightly thicker texture. Do not use low-fat or fat free greek yogurt.
- Cheese: If you don’t have monterey jack cheese, cheddar cheese, or pepper jack cheese, you can use any other type of cheese that you have on hand. Some good options include mozzarella, gouda, or gruyere. You can also use a combination of different cheeses for added flavor.
- Garlic: You can use fresh garlic as a substitute for garlic powder. Simply use one fresh garlic clove for every 1/4 tsp of garlic powder the recipe calls for.
By making these substitutions, you can easily customize the hot corn dip to suit your tastes and preferences.
Can This Cheesy Corn Dip Be Made Ahead of Time?
You can totally make it ahead of time! This corn dip can be made ahead of time and reheated in the crockpot or in the oven before serving. This makes it a great option for parties or gatherings where you want to have everything ready in advance.
Can this Dip be Served Cold?
This cold corn dip has all of the same delicious flavors as the hot version. This chilled version is perfect for a summertime party or gathering. I do like to add some mayonnaise to the cold version to make it creamier and reduce the cream cheese. I usually add 1/2 cup of mayonnaise and only use 2 oz cream cheese.
Also, the cream cheese has to be at room temperature or it will be difficult to combine all the ingredients. Simply mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl and use an electric mixer to combine all the ingredients. Refrigerate the dip until it’s chilled, and serve it with your choice of dippers.
How to Store Creamy Hot Corn Dip
- Allow the dip to cool to room temperature.
- Transfer the dip to an airtight container with a lid.
- Place the container in the refrigerator.
The dip will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
It’s important to store the dip in an airtight container to keep it fresh and prevent it from drying out. If you don’t have a container with a lid, you can also use plastic wrap or aluminum foil to cover the dip before placing it in the refrigerator.
Can You Freeze Corn Dip with Cream Cheese?
While it is possible to freeze corn dip with cream cheese, the cream cheese may not hold up well to the freezing and thawing process. Cream cheese tends to break down and become crumbly when it’s frozen, which can affect the texture of the dip.
If you do decide to freeze the dip, it’s important to thaw it slowly in the refrigerator to prevent the cream cheese from separating. Once the dip is thawed, you may need to stir it well and add a little bit of milk or sour cream to help smooth out the texture.
It’s generally best to avoid freezing dishes that contain cream cheese, as the texture may be compromised when it’s thawed.
In general, it’s best to store the corn dip with cream cheese in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, and only freeze it as a last resort.
How to Reheat Corn Dip Mexican
There are a few different ways to reheat corn dip:
- Microwave: The quickest way to reheat corn dip is to microwave it in a microwave-safe dish. Simply place the dip in the dish, cover it with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap, and microwave it on 50% power for 1-2 minutes. Once it is hot and bubbly it’s ready. Stir the dip well before serving.
- Stovetop: To reheat the dip on the stovetop, transfer it to a saucepan and heat it over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it’s hot and bubbly.
- Crockpot: You can also reheat the dip in the crockpot on low heat and add an extra 1/4 cup of sour cream. Simply transfer the dip to the crockpot and cook it on low heat for 1-2 hours.
No matter which method you choose, be sure to stir the dip well before serving. This will ensure that it’s evenly heated and the ingredients are well combined. You may also need to add a splash of milk or cream to the dip while reheating. This will help smooth out the texture if it becomes too thick when it’s reheated.
So give it a try and see for yourself just how delicious it is! I hope you enjoyed this recipe and blog post. If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to leave them in the comments section below. Happy Crockin!

Food Allergies
All of the ingredients I use are gluten-free. My husband has celiac disease, which means you are allergic to gluten.
This recipe uses all gluten free ingredients so you don’t need to make any substitutions. However, make sure all your dippers are gluten-free. There is nothing worse than when someone puts crackers filled with gluten on the serving tray making everything contaminated.
