Crock Pot BBQ Green Beans

CROCK POT BBQ GREEN BEANS

If you are looking for a great new side dish to take to a potluck or even to pair with an easy dinner give these BBQ Green Beans a try. My husband always makes ribs and he had some leftover BBQ sauce so I was trying to come up with a side dish that we could use for his extra BBQ sauce. The idea came from another BBQ recipe I have for BBQ Bacon Beans, which are also delicious!

Bacon is the star in this recipe! I mean is bacon ever not the star in a recipe? The first step does take about 5 minutes extra but I promise cooking the onions in the bacon fat will be worth it. The bacon flavor infuses into the onions and the entire dish.

WHAT KIND OF GREEN BEANS SHOULD I USE?

You can use any version of green beans you want in this recipe. I used fresh green beans because I have a picky husband who loves fresh green beans! Canned green beans and frozen green beans will work great in this recipe and require even less work so feel free to swap those out for the fresh ones.

GLUTEN FREE SIDE DISH

This recipe is naturally gluten-free! All the ingredients in it are gluten-free. As always I make all of my recipes gluten-free because my husband has celiac disease which means he is allergic to gluten. You know all my recipes will be tested and served with only gluten-free products.

If using canned green beans do you need to drain them?

Hi! I would drain the beans before adding them. The juice would water down the flavor. Hope you enjoy!

Is the slow cooker cooking time the same for fresh or canned green beans?

Hi Melanie! I would cut the cooking time in half for canned because they might get too mushy. Hope you enjoy them!

    5 stars
I’ve done a similar recipe on the stove top that my mom often made, but hers didn’t have all these ingredients. This one is so much tastier. Also meets my #1 requirement….easy! Love it!!!
