Make these cheesy crockpot potatoes for your next potluck or holiday!
Crockpot Cheesy Potatoes

I think everyone can agree that potatoes are the best! When you add cheese to them you turn them into a super star, CROCKPOT CHEESY POTATOES! This side dish is so delicious that I request it for every holiday and birthday. This tried and true family recipe will become a classic in your family too.

The original recipe calls for them in the oven but, as you know, oven space is important during any holiday. I make them in the crock pot which turns out just as delicious. Everyone loves a good side dish and this one will be the best one ever! If you have a potluck to go to or just looking for a perfect potato to make for the holidays this is the recipe to try.

What are Crockpot Cheesy Potatoes?

There are so many different kinds of potato casseroles, Au Gratin, Scalloped, Funeral and then one to top them all…Crockpot Cheesy Potatoes. The best way to describe them is if you can imagine loaded mashed potatoes and then imagine the best potatoes you have ever eaten!

The potatoes are more like chunks than thin slices like Au Gratin or Scalloped. Once you taste Crockpot Cheesy Potatoes you will be hooked. What makes them so delicious? It is the mix of sour cream and all the cheese! I mean is there anything better than adding sour cream AND cheese? I don’t think so…

Try this perfect side dish to go with any main course except be warned that they usually take the spotlight!

How to Make

Boil potatoes with skins on. Let potatoes cool and then peel. Grate potatoes into chunks. I always use Yukon gold potatoes but any potato will work!

Melt butter with cheese until cheese is almost melted. Remove from heat.

Add sour cream, onions, salt and pepper.

Mix with potatoes place in slow cooker. (Or place in 2 quart buttered casserole dish if using over)

Dot with 2 tablespoons butter and sprinkle with paprika.

Cook high in slow cooker for 45 minutes (if using oven Bake uncovered for approximately 30 minutes at 350).

Need A New Crock Pot?

My favorite is this Crock Pot 7 quart Programmable Slow Cooker. First and foremost, I love being able to set the timer in case I’m not home when the food is finished cooking and it just switches to warm. Plus you can lock the lid and just carry it to a party. Not only is it easy to carry but also you will never lose another Tupperware or serving dish again at a potluck party!

For sure Ally!!! I have even frozen it and reheated it in the oven before the event. But you can just make it a day or two ahead of time and then store it in an airtight container until your are ready. Hope you enjoy it!
